NEW PROGRAMS/ACTIVITIES AT PASC
Computer Class
Starts in the fall with our computer guru John Gurski on Tuesdays at 1:00 PM in the Reception Room. As we only have three (3) computers for use by members, priority seating and instruction will be given to the first 10 people who signed up. Others are welcome to come watch and listen but they will have to stand or sit in the back and will only have limited opportunities to ask questions.
Dominoes
Hosted by PASC members Nola Szakal on Tuesdays and Janet Townsend on Thursdays at 1:00 PM in the PASC Cafeteria. Stop by and play or learn about the many varieties of games there are involving these amazing little tiles!
Relaxing Massage Therapy by Hildegard Rutter is offered every second and fourth Wednesday morning from 9:00 AM until 12:00 PM in the PASC Reception Room. Hildegard utilizes a massage chair and also a massage table for for a more thorough therapeutic workout. The cost is $1 per minute (more than worth it).
Internet Access for Seniors
We now have a personal computer (pc) with internet access set up in the PASC Reception Room! Seniors can sign up and cleanly and safely surf the worldwide web for all kinds of information and fun stuff. You can use it any time the center is open - a daily signup sheet is located next to the pc. We have two pc's installed in the same area for internet-ready service for our members.
State Senator John Rafferty has a staffer with office hours here every fourth Friday from 9:30 AM until 12:30 PM.
PROGRAM/ACTIVITY UPDATES
Please note the following changes in our existing programs / activities:
55 Alive, AARP's Defensive Driving class for seniors, will meet in 2010 on the following dates: Thursday, 9/30 (1-day
refresher class for those who have taken a 2-day course within the last
three years); and Monday/Tuesday, 11/8 & 11/9 (2-day class). Prices for the regular 2-day class and the 1-day refresher are both $14 ($12 for AARP members). Advance signup required.
Beginner Line Dancing will be meeting in the Meeting Room starting in the beginning of June through the beginning of September as Spanish Class will be on hiatus for the summer, thus freeing up the room.
Contract Bridge - We have arranged for a new Contract Bridge instructor for the fall to replace Diana Wylie who is undergoing intensive chemotherapy. His name is Dave LeGrow. Prior to the beginning of fall classes, Dave encourages all of Diana’s former students to keep practicing and, as such, we are holding the room from 10-12 for practice games on Monday mornings during the summer. We’re calling it Contract Bridge Club. Lessons with Dave start Monday, 10/4.
Gourmet Weight Wise will start meeting in the All-Purpose Room/Cafeteria at 10:30 AM (rather than 11:00 AM) on Thursdays with instructor, Lisa Miller DeNagy starting August 5th. No classes on 9/16, 9/23 or 9/30. Class restarts with new instructor Brittany Ford starts on 10/7.
Please note, that Healthy Steps in Motion will not meet on those Wednesdays when we have our Birthday Parties (usually the third Wednesday of the month) Please check the calendar in the Keenager or on this website. No class 9/13.
History Class
• Dr. Greg Gubler will teach regular sessions on the first and third Fridays of each month starting on September 3rd. The fourth Friday session will be discontinued.
Lunch Bunch is now being run by Ron Barrett. Advance signup is required. Signup sheet is on the counter in the PASC Reception Room. Those who drive and have room are encouraged to take others who don't have a car. If you can drive others, please get in touch with Ron through Bob Hager (610-323-5009 x 11).
Piano Lessons - Piano instructor Trudi Harple now also provided violin lessons.
Both YMCA Pools will be closed for maintenence on Thursday, September 2nd so there will be no Senior Swim that day.
Sit and Get Fit will not meet on 8/17, 8/19, 10/5 or 10/7.
Beginning and Intermediate Spanish classes will not meet in the summer beginning in June. They will resume in the end of August or early September. Stay tuned.
Sweatin' to the Oldies has ended as leader Deb Bednar has taken a position with the Villa At Morlatton. We are working on setting up a joint class with her and the folks from the Villa. We're also planning a shuffleboard tournament with them.
Texas Hold 'Em Tournaments are now held each Tuesday in the All-Purpose Room / Cafeteria at 1PM. As we have so many expert players now, lessons are no longer being given. Most winning player of 2010 will win a beautiful trophy!!!!!
Tuesday Morning Movie on Tuesday, August 17th has been cancelled due to low turnout for the previous movie.
VNA nurse Annette Richter will not be here on Wednesday, August 25th. She has rescheduled her visit to Monday August 30th instead.
